Consumer-driven Web site designed to aid elderly

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Senior citizens looking for a guide to services in Arizona now have a new online resource at their disposal.

The Senior List is a Web site dedicated to helping seniors find quality housing, secondary help and support services. The site is based upon consumer reviews that are compiled under specific categories that can be filtered at the user's discretion.

Business names are submitted by users or by the businesses themselves and ranked on a five-star scale. If a business submits its own name for advertising purposes, it must maintain at least a three-star rating in order to remain on the Web site.

The Senior List, which opened in February, has an extensive list of services in Arizona, although none have been rated at this time. However, those who have used one of the featured businesses are encouraged to rate them to help future visitors to the site.

For more information, visit www.theseniorlist.com or call (503) 430-5652.

Reader Comments
From the editor: Many of you have expressed concerns about some of the harsh anonymous comments from readers. To remedy that, we are introducing new features. You can create your own blog, publish your news and share your photos with the community. Once you fill out a simple form and leave a verifiable e-mail address, you can set up your profile page. It will display all of your contributions and allow you to track issues and easily connect with others.

We want our site to be a place where people discuss and debate ideas that foster stronger communities. We built this for you. Please take care of it. Tolerate broad thinking, but take action against obscene or hateful material. Make it a credible and safe place worth preserving and sharing.

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
