A note to our readers/voters:

You voted, and now the results are in.

Really, though, don't we already know the answer to that annual question: "Who/What is the ‘Best Of' the Ahwatukee Foothills?"

In the broadest sense possible, it's you, our reader. You, the patron of each and every business you'll see featured here are the "Best Of" Ahwatukee Foothills. Even in times of tough economic strain, your willingness to support your local businesses proves just how strong the Ahwatukee Foothills community really is, and just how lucky we all are to be a part of it.

It's amazing to see how the community gets into this contest more and more each year, and this time was no exception. For the first time, ahwatukee.com, the online home of theAhwatukee Foothills News, joined AFN in sponsoring the competition, with all ballots collected online.

The results were off the charts, with three times as many ballots cast this year than in any year prior!

This year, the AFN staff also decided to place a bit of a "personal touch" on the competition by creating a handful of "Special Service" categories to go along with the regular ballot. In addition to the "Best New Business" staple, we've added "Best Mom and Pop," "Best Customer Service," "Best Teacher," "Best Bartender" and "Best Server" to the docket. The winners of these categories were featured on the cover of our print edition, as well as in special feature stories that can be found below.

Thanks again to all the voters for their support, and to all the businesses included for their participation.

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
