Lori Armstrong

What is the biggest challenge of staying healthy at your age?

“I pace myself so I can train forever, but I’m not the fastest tool in the shed.”

What is your biggest accomplishment?

“My first Ironman I did I got five flat tires, so I was eight-and-a-half hours on the bike. It was my 50th birthday and my whole family was there so I really couldn’t stop.”

What are your goals?

“I have so many goals. I’m doing Ironman Arizona in November, and I’d like to do a 24-hour adventure race.”

What is your motivation to stay healthy and active?

“I’d hate to say what it really is - I think it’s obsession. I’m just addicted to it! I love what I do. I love getting out there and seeing life, seeing the sun rise every day.”

Do you have any heroes?

“My family. My husband. There’s so many. When I race I dedicate it to someone in my heart, and they’re usually my hero for that race.”

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
