Chester a super starter

Ahwatukee Foothills resident David Chester has been awarded the designation of "Super Starter" by New England Financial in recognition of superior sales achievement.

Pillai named Junior Ranger at Yellowstone

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Nathan Pillai, 6, was sworn in as a Junior Ranger in Yellowstone National Park and the Craters of the Moon National Monument over the summer. 

For the Yellowstone Junior Ranger program, Pillai completed activity pages involving reading about the Yellowstone's volcanic chamber called the caldera, understanding how water from rain and snow is converted into a steam fountain by the Old Faithful geyser, observing the habitats inside the Yellowstone National Park and coloring a puzzle with each of the animals he saw inside the park. He also attended a formal program, hiked a trail and observed all the park rules for visitors.

Pillai is the son of Lakshmi and Krishna Pillai. He is a recent graduate of the Ahwatukee Foothills Montessori and will begin first grade at Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School.

 

Ketterman twirls at nationals

Mountain Pointe High School sophomore Erin Ketterman competed at the Baton Twirling Nationals at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind.

She won a second place and two eighth places in her beginner division. Two teams she participated with won first place in the beginner dance twirl division.

Ketterman is the feature twirler for the Lionhearts Marching Band, has been twirling for more than 10 years and holds the title of Little Miss Twirling Athlete 13-15. She twirls with Arizona Twirling Athletes under the direction of Becky Hewitt.
