Dolce Luna sponsors drive to help the homeless

Dolce Luna Italian Cafe is holding an underwear and sock donation drive to benefit CASS (Central Arizona Shelter Services), which provides services and housing for homeless families and single adults.

Donations of new, packaged underwear and socks may be dropped off at Dolce Luna, 4647 E. Chandler Blvd., Suite 10, throughout the summer. All sizes are needed for children, women and men.

Area Little League donates to fireworks fundraising efforts

Ahwatukee Foothills' Little League gave a check for $500 to the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce Saturday as a donation to the fireworks celebration planned for Independence Day weekend.

Ruth Trevino, president of Ahwatukee Little League, said they decided on $500 because there are $500 kids in the league and if everyone in Ahwatukee gave $1, the chamber could provide the fireworks for a couple of years.

 

BMW dealership opens at Ray Road and Interstate 10

Chapman Automotive Group's newest dealership has opened on a 6.6-acre site fronting Interstate 10 just north of Ray Road in Chandler. As one of BMW's largest dealerships in the United States, Chapman BMW will service the company's expanding customer base in the Southeast Valley. Grand opening ceremonies took place Thursday, June 4, with welcoming remarks from Chandler Mayor Boyd Dunn.

Von Hanson's Meats celebrates 5th anniversary

Von Hanson's Meats & Spirits, owned by Ahwatukee Foothills resident Martha Neese, will be celebrating its fifth year anniversary in Chandler during the month of June. Von Hanson's was established in 1984 in Apple Valley, Minn., and grew to its current 20 stores in Minnesota where it reigns as the No. 1 meat market.

An open house will be held on June 9 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. and a variety of products will be sampled. Von Hanson's Meats & Spirits is located at 2390 N. Alma School Road, between Elliot and Warner.
