Ocean of the Internet has disturbances swimming in it
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The "Internet," defined as a global communication network that allows computers worldwide to connect and exchange information. It has become a whirlpool of information, entertainment and communication.
The Internet will be growing at a rapid pace in the coming years. The next generation will see improvements in the virtual world. Computers and Internet have become easier for even third world countries to access. However, as delightful as that sounds, it may give a disadvantage towards the growing teenage population. With many predators, inappropriate Web sites and the growing social networking communication this may have a harmful effect on people all over the globe.
The Internet has become an ocean of bullying and porn swimming in it. This influence is detrimental towards people, their relationships with people, their health and self-esteem.
Cyber-bullying, mostly done through social networking sites, is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child using the Internet. This act has been decreasing the self esteem of children all over the world. Many children have committed suicide because of the effects of bullying. Educating children about the consequences and effects bullying has on people may help decrease the amount of cyber-bullying that happens on the net. Parents and guardians must take the initiative to talk and interact with their children about this growing problem. Encourage them to come to them if there are any problems. But always trust them enough to allow them to surf the Internet.
Inappropriate sites have been a disturbance to many young people today. This has been a large disadvantage towards the growing world of the Internet. Luckily there is software that can be used to block inappropriate Web sites and prevent people from getting advertisements and commercials from vulgar sites. Parents should be able to filter out inappropriate content.
The most influential and beneficial way to get rid of this crisis the old-fashioned way; talk to your children about these Web sites and their disadvantages, and be aware of the sites that are on the Internet.
With a little awareness we can make the Internet a safe, informational and happy place for children, teens and adults.
