Ahwatukee Foothills News

When Ahwatukee Foothills families are planning their summer getaways before school starts back up again, the price of gas should be the last thing on their minds.

Thanks to the nearby Tempe Hyundai dealership, people who buy or lease a Hyundai between now and Aug. 31 will be eligible for the Hyundai Assurance Gas Lock program, which guarantees a year's worth of gas at $1.49 per gallon.

"With Hyundai Assurance Gas Lock, we are giving consumers the opportunity to stretch their budgets even further during this tough economic time," said Jeremy Day, general sales manager at Hyundai of Tempe.

According to Day, Hyundai began the Assurance program in January and has been offering different options within the program each month re-molded to fit consumer concerns and needs.

"In the summer the price of gas is on people's minds, which is why Hyundai is offering this deal now," he said.

The Hyundai Assurance Gas Lock program is available on most Hyundai models, and complements all existing Hyundai offers. The Gas Lock program is based off of a simple gas log.

"Once a customer goes with the Gas Lock program, they have to register on a Web site with their personal credit card, and then they receive a credit card just for the gas program," Day said. "They then purchase gas with the gas log credit card, and their personal credit card is charged $1.49 for each gallon of gas they buy with the gas log credit card."

Hyundai customers can use the gas log for up to a year or for 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Day said that he believes Hyundai is offering this program to build strong relationships with its customers in the U.S.

"I've been with Hyundai for nine years, and when they entered this country it was all about showing customers that they were going to be here for the long run," he said. "Now that our cars are popular, we want our customers to know that we care about them and our relationship."

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
