Energy recycling system hits AF market

Ahwatukee Foothills News

A new energy and electricity bill-saving device has been sweeping across Ahwatukee Foothills.

Even if you have the most efficient household appliances on the market, and especially if you do not, the KVAR Energy Controller can optimize that efficiency for positive effects on the environment and the homeowner's wallet.

According to Lee Marino and Cindy Messner, sole distributors of the KVAR system in Arizona, 25 percent of billable electricity consumed is unusable. This is due to most appliances being between 70 to 80 percent efficient, which is the government standard.

Appliances that meet the Energy Star compliance only have to be 75 to 80 percent efficient. The KVAR system brings the efficiency in those same appliances up to 99.8 percent.

"Companies cannot justify spending more money and making a larger unit to increase efficiency past government standards," Marino said. "What (the KVAR) does, it uses the same ampage, but it recycles the unusable energy."

Installed next to the fuse box, the KVAR Energy Controller, which is NASA tested and Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed, makes it so the motors of appliances found throughout a household, such as in a refrigerator, pool or air conditioner, are not wasting energy. That unusable energy is lost due to the heat created by the motors just being in operation.

"It's taking that loss and recycling it," said Marino, who has been selling the KVAR system for four months now. "Not only is it conserving energy but it's also prolonging the life of the motor."

The KVAR system, which is made in America, does no harm to the appliance or the home's energy supply.

For $550 Marino, who is the owner of Safewire Electric, and Messner will come to a home or business and install the system, which includes a 12-year warranty. They guarantee a power savings between 8 and 25 percent.

Additionally, the federal government offers a $500 tax credit for people who have the system installed. Owners will receive $300 the first year and $200 the next.

"People will see the difference almost immediately," Marino said. "It is pretty awesome technology."

The energy that is saved and recycled by the KVAR system is sent to the top of the fuse box, forcing the home to use that up first before bringing in new energy. Having a system installed reduces the risk of power surges throughout the home as well.

Marino said that if business and large corporations continue to jump on board, as they are beginning to do, it will make a significant impact on our nation's energy consumption.

"You can look at it like, if every business saved 25 percent of their electricity, that would have huge implications on our nation as a whole," he said.

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
