Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I’m from Chandler. I’ve been in the shredding industry for decades, most recently as the vice president of sales and marketing for the manufacturer of the only patented, UL-approved Self-Service Paper Shredder Kiosk. I also have been the regional sales manager for two of the best manufacturers of business-grade paper shredders.

Q: Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee Foothills?

A: The ease of access to my business from Interstate 10 is convenient for my customers and allows me to serve more of them from a greater distance. Also, I benefit from the traffic generated by my neighbor stores: Staples, Guitar Center, PetSmart and Costco.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: Most people have a box or two of papers that are too big for their home shredder to handle. Truck-mounted shredding services aren’t able to economically serve the customer so I felt that if people had a safe, convenient place to bring their “stuff” and could watch it be shredded, we would all benefit.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: TrendShredders provides on-site paper shredding services for consumers and small businesses. We are authorized dealers for the major manufacturers of Business Grade paper shredders, cutters and trimmers. We are experts in industrial shredders, which can cut the cost in half when compared to truck-mounted shredding services that many large companies use. Contents of a standard bank box with a lid is shredded for $10.

Q: What does your business offer that no one else does?

A: Customers love to watch the shredding process. They can stand right next to the industrial paper shredding machine and see their paperwork turned into small particles. We also partner with local nonprofit organizations to help them reach their fundraising goals. We’re the “Shredder Experts” in the Valley and help consumers and businesses protect their identities and comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to document destruction.

Q: How have residents of the community responded to your business?

A: My customers always leave my store with a smile on their face and less stress because we’ve provided excellent service, plus peace of mind. Not only am I getting more and more repeat customers, but they’re telling their friends and neighbors about me, which means I have more customers every day.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: We are evaluating additional store sites in the Valley so that we can make visiting TrendShredders more convenient.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: It can take hours to shred a box full of papers with a home shredder, but you can come to TrendShredders and watch it done in two minutes!

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
