Phoenix-area freeways will be free of construction closures this weekend. Drivers traveling in other parts of Arizona or to southern California or Mexico over Easter weekend should plan for a handful of restrictions already in place near Tucson, Gila Bend, Prescott and Flagstaff for highway improvement projects. Delays are possible during peak travel times. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra time and consider alternate routes while these restrictions are in place:

• State Route 85/B-8 intersection reconstruction project continues in Gila Bend. Drivers traveling to southern California or Mexico should plan for lane restrictions and a reduced speed limit in work zone.

• Interstate 10 interchange at Prince Road in Tucson closed through late 2013. DETOUR: Drivers can use the Miracle Mile interchange instead.

• Interstate 17 at SR 69 interchange reconstruction at Cordes Junction continues. Construction also underway on I-17 at Munds Park, 20 miles south of Flagstaff. Expect lane restrictions, traffic shifts and reduced speed limits in both construction zones.

• Interstate 40 bridge work continues 15 miles east of Holbrook. Drivers should plan for reduced speed limit, narrowed lanes and traffic shift from eastbound to westbound travel lanes.

• US 93 widening project continues north of Wikieup. No passing. Delays up to 15 minutes possible 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays.
