As great as the holiday season is, filled with family, food, friends and traditions, it can also be a stressful time for many. This season, when purchasing gifts, think outside the box and offer something that can help combat the stress the holidays bring.

One gift that is sure to ease the holiday stress, and continue to be a relaxing gift even after the holidays are over, is the gift of a massage.

Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa, 4940 E. Ray Road, offers two different gift packages this holiday season.

"Our gift packages are like giving the gift over and over again," owner Steve Currier said.

The first one is for three different one-hour sessions of massage, facials or waxing. There are also no expiration dates on these services. This package is $119.85.

The next package is for three one-hour sessions of a massage, facial or waxing with the option of three enhancements. Some of the enhancements include hot stones, foot treatments, specialty masks and peels. With the enhancements added, this package is $179.85.

These packages are available during the holidays and, according to Currier, offer the best prices for the value of the packages.

"Hand and Stone in Ahwatukee is an upscale experience for below market pricing," Currier said.

Back in Line Family Chiropractic, another local Ahwatukee establishment, 15215 S. 48th St., offers chiropractic and massage packages to help repair someone after the holidays, both physically and mentally.

The business is offering a special that includes a complimentary consultation, exam, and X-rays for chiropractic purposes.

"As far as massage, we run a holiday special that is $35 for an hour massage for new clients," said chiropractic assistant Cori Frayer. "We also sell massage packages. Our regular price is $59 for an hour, and the package is buy five get one free."

"Giving the gift of a massage is a great gift that anyone would appreciate, especially because it's a gift they can use after the holidays are over," Currier added.

Another great stress relief gift for this holiday season is the gift of aromatherapy.

Jackie Singh, an Ahwatukee Gold Canyon Candle consultant, says candles are great to give or to burn for personal use.

Gold Canyon now has a line of aromatherapy candles, which are made from a blend of soy and essential oils, and are supposed to burn cleaner and have a stronger fragrance. Along with their newer line, they have their signature holiday scents, which are sure to be a crowd pleaser.

"With us living in a desert, it can sometimes be hard to achieve that Christmas spirit," Singh said. "Our two holiday scents, Holiday Wreath and Cozy Christmas, are a great way to get into the holiday spirit."

Gold Canyon candles can be purchased through a consultant or online. For more information, visit
