Derek Kennard seems to live what he preaches.

From the beginning, Kennard and his Pro Edge Performance Training has followed the motto “Tap into your potential.”

“It’s not just some gym you come into for a workout,” he said. “We make it a family environment, and we get results. That’s the bottom line.”

Kennard, a former Desert Vista High School and University of Nevada football player, started the business with a cadre of fellow athletes in October 2007.

Since then Pro Edge has been named “Best Place To Work Out” by people in Ahwatukee Foothills News Best of 2008 and again in Best of 2009.

And this year they get double honors, with Pro Edge trainer Billy Woodmansee also receiving the first-place award from readers for “Best Customer Service.”
