1st place: Sweet Tomatoes4723 E Ray Road, Suite 1(480) 705-8774www.sweetomatoes.com

It features a pasta station, eight soups, a 55-foot salad bar with plenty of fruits and vegetables, a bakery section with focaccia pizza, low-fat muffins and a soft-serve "fro yo" machine.

Plenty of soup varieties, multiple fresh muffin and focaccia pizza options fresh from the bakery, a baked potato station, pasta bar (including house-made mac-and-cheese), a frozen-yogurt machine, and - oh yeah - the motherload of all salad bars at more than 50-feet long. Sweet Tomatoes has what it takes to satisfy even the pickiest of ‘lil eaters.

It's simple to see why Sweet Tomatoes, found nationwide with more than 150 locations, was named the Ahwatukee Foothills' "Best Place to Eat With the Kids" for 2008. Parents have the ability to pick and choose items for their kids, helping youngsters learn to like vegetables individually before graduating to a big-kid salad, all at a price (right around $5 for children and $10 for adults) that won't break the bank either.
