A perennial competitor in a number of categories, the Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA has been honored by voters as 2008's "Best After School Hangout," repeating the title it took home last year.
In recent years, the YMCA, also an annual contender for "Best Place to Work Out," installed a fitness center for kids 7 and older to help curb childhood obesity.
"We don't just provide fitness, we provide an experience for the entire family," according to Connie Nelson-Askew, YMCA marketing director. "Our facility accommodates all age populations by having designated programming and facility amenities."
